Strep throat

Yesterday I came home from work and started feeling really sick. My throat really started to hurt. As the evening progressed I started feeling worse. I took night-time cold medicine, hoping that would help but sadly no. Shelby stayed up all night crying and being sick so this morning we headed off to the doctor. Since we were both being seen for the same thing the doctor only had to swab my throat. And, the diagnosis? We have strep throat. I am so sick of having strep throat. When I was younger I had strep about 4-5 times a year. They talked about having my tonsils taken out. Once they started talking about that, I started to get better. Luckily! I like my tonsils! This is the first time I've had strep in about 7 years. They have come out with something really cool. Shelby and I got shots of penicillin. I always had to have pills. Don't you love the miracle of science? I do. Anyway, stay away from us for a few days unless you want to be sick and dying!

Bump it up!

Living in Idaho is really interesting with all the funny hairstyles. We have always made fun of the "Idaho Hump" and the "Utah Bump" and of course the notorious "Hibbard Haystack." For those of you who don't know Hibbard is outside of Rexburg. It's the area where Jordan's parents live. Anyway, I saw this commercial on TV just the other day. I was walking out of the room and stopped because I was mesmerized. Who would ever think of a product to make your hair have a bump? Keep in mind this is not a joke!
Here is a picture of what a bumpit can do for you!
As you can see, I got this off of a news channel website.
Here is the video: http://bighappiehair.com/
If it doesn't work you might have to copy and paste it in a new window. I guarantee that it will be worth the effort.

Be Careful what you wish for!

I've been wanting the snow to come for some time now. Finally, it has come. It snowed a little bit last week but last night it dumped a few inches and now it is snowing and blowing. It is so cold out and you can barely see. Now, I'm wondering why I was wishing for the snow. I think that I always remember the fun times like sledding, building snowmen, and just overall fun times. What I forget about is the COLD, shoveling snow, sliding around in your car. Oh, well, it's still beautiful! Here's the view from our house this morning at 7:30.

This is after I shoveled the walk and Jordan is in the process of snow blowing the sidewalk in front of our house. I think the camera makes the snow look a lot worst than it really is. What you can't see is the snow blowing down the street.
Here is Jordan snow blowing the sidewalk. I don't know what we would do without that snowblower. Oh wait yes I do. We have to shovel by hand and it takes about three times as long. How do we know? Because last year our neighbors borrowed the snowblower and broke it within 10 minutes. They didn't tell us about it until Jordan asked for it back. Then, they were going to fix it (yeah right). We got it back about 6 months later in the same state. Jordan was able to fix it in about a day. I'm glad my husband is mechanical!

Shelby's Hair

Lately Shelby's hair has been growing like crazy so I've have tried to do different hairstyles. I found this blog that is over on the sidebar that has different princess hairstyles. Anyway, this is what we've been up to these days.

Here is my first attempt at a Princess hair. Can you guess which Princess she is supposed to be? Okay, she's not really a princess but she's supposed to be Tinkerbell.

This is just my experimenting with braiding her hair. It would have turned out a lot better if she would have sat still.
Shelby is kind of being potty trained right now. You can see her potty in the background. She thought she was being pretty funny putting the toilet seat on her head but I just thought it was gross!

Jordan's grandma put rollers in Shelby's hair and to keep her from messing them up she put this hat on her head. This hat was Jordan's great-grandmothers. Basically, the top part is netting and it has a ring that you can move to open the top so you can blow dry your hair.

Thanksgiving with the Frisby Family

This year for Thanksgiving all of Jordan's brothers and sister and their families came to Rexburg to spend time together and of course to eat good food. Before we had dinner most of us decided to go to the ice caves that are about 30 minutes north of town. It was a lot of fun but I am paying the price now! My body feels like it's one big bruise. In fact I have some bruises on my knees, shins, and elbows (from crawling). Anyway, it was nice to spend time with the family and I will be sad to see them all go. I forgot what it used to be like with most of Jordan's siblings living at home!
This is just before we went into the cave. Hilary wanted to see how her hair looked with this awesome head lamp on her head. I think that A.J. really makes the picture better! Here is Ashlee, Jared, and Jenni at the bottom of a rope that we had to climb down. I had a hard time climbing down and then of course I had to climb up. I am not built for this kind of activity.

Here is Jordan and his dad, Craig, in the cave. Look how cool the ceiling looks.

In this picture Matt and Zoie were going to go down the ice slide at the end of the cave. It was pretty interesting because Jared was handing Zoie to Matt and they started to slip but being a great uncle, Jared sacrificed his body to save Zoie. He had to push her up to Matt just as he fell. And, this happened. . . .Jared landed in a pool of water. He was pretty cold for the rest of the time in the cave.
Here is Ashlee inside the cave. See all the graffiti? It's sad to see this beautiful place so messed up.This picture was taken in the second cave. Zoie and I stayed outside because we were both too tired to go through this one. We had fun sitting in the car and talking. There is never a dull moment with that 5 year old! This is a picture of Jared with Matt behind him. Jordan said that this is spot where A.J. fell into quite a bit of water. According to Craig it was about time because he was getting pretty mouthy. This is Jenni, Ashlee, and Craig coming out of the second cave. They actually climbed up right where I was standing.

This is just a few of us when we were about to go home. Starting from the left: Jared, Jenni, me, Jordan, and Craig. Don't you like my awesome DI overalls? I thought they would be a lot better in a cave than regular pants because they won't slide down and I probably wouldn't get an ice burn on my back. I actually hate this picture of me but it's okay.

The sadest Halloween a kid could have

We had an interesting thing happen this Halloween. Shelby had been sick the whole week and I kept telling her that if she didn't get better then she couldn't go Trick or Treating. Well, She never got better and it really started to worry me. I got home from work on Thursday and decided to take her to the doctor. I called at 2pm and they said they could get us in at 3pm. Shelby was still at Grandma's house so I called over there to say I was on my way. I found out that she needed new clothes because she had thrown up (again!) and so I loaded up all my stuff and took off.
Shelby's doctor is in Idaho Falls so I knew I would be cutting it close. We did get there in time and as the doctor started looking at her he told me that there could be a few things wrong with her. One, She could have Strep Throat, or two, she could have a urinary tract infection. They did those tests and they both came back negative. The doctor said she was obviously dehydrated and he wanted to give her fluids and take some blood to see if there was anything seriously wrong with her.
So, off to the hospital. Shelby got to spend the night at EIRMC. She had to have lots of fluids and have an x-ray taken and of course her blood taken. I was exhausted by the time it was all done. Luckily, Jordan was able to take Friday (Halloween) off and he stayed the night with her. Here are some pictures of her hospital stay.
This picture was taken on my phone. I didn't think it was too bad considering. This is just a few hours after they put in her IV. Look how huge it is!
Shelby and Grandma on Halloween. Just about an hour before we broke out of the hospital.
Shelby asking her dad "Please!"

Shelby and Jordan at IHOP after we were released from the hospital. It's amazing what fluids will do to a kid who was really dehydrated! The doctor concluded that She had Rota virus which kids get vaccinated for but they still get sometimes. It last for 5-7 days and tomorrow will be the 7th day. I hope this stops soon. She's not dehydrated anymore but it's hard to get her to drink and she still throws up.
Doctor's orders were that Shelby could not go Trick or treating. He said she should stay in the house and pass out candy (but not get too close to kids). So here she is at Grandma's house looking for the kids. Why haven't they come yet? My favorite is the little blond hair sticking out the back of the hat.
Here is my little flower. She is sitting on Grandma's stairs waiting for those trick or treaters.

Trip to Washington

I know it has been a really long time since I've blogged. I've been especially bad about my trip to Washington! It was a lot of fun and I've been meaning to blog but we have been really busy lately. First, the day that I got home from Washington, my parents came. They actually picked me up from the airport. Then, the next day I started work at Central Elementary school up in Sugar City. And then Jordan and my dad were going to go hunting on Thursday. My dad got sick and then after they left Jordan got the flu. He drove himself home from up by Tetonia at 1:00 in the morning. He called my phone and woke up me and my mom. Needless to say it was a hard night and it got even worse. I got the flu two days later. Some trip for my parents! My mom spent the weekend taking care of me and Jordan and keeping Shelby occupied.
Anyway, things calmed down for the next week but now Shelby has the flu so I decided to take the day off today to take care of her. She is sitting very still because this is the first time she ate in a while so I do not want puke everywhere. Okay, so on to my trip.
I decided to document every part of my trip so here is my plane from Idaho Falls to Salt Lake.

This is a plane that is hanging over the baggage claim in Seattle. I thought Shelby would like this picture because She loves planes.
Her I am drinking a Seattle's Best hot chocolate. I have to say it was one of the cups of hot chocolate I have ever had. It better be too because we drove a long way to get it!
This house is in the neighborhood where I stayed with Elizabeth and the family she lives with. For all of you Desperate Housewives fans, I felt like I was on Wisteria Lane. Guess who's house this is? It's Mike's of course ( I hope I'm not the only one who got that). Anyway, Jordan said his truck was even in the driveway, I should have knocked on the door to see if he was home.
This is my friend Elizabeth. We went on a walk and she was showing us the place where she had her accident. It was kind of random and she still doesn't know how it happened. She was at the stop sign turning out of her neighborhood and then all of a sudden she was sliding down a 10 foot embankment. I took a picture of the tree that she hit too but I won't post it.
The highlight of my trip for the two of us was going to Forks, Wa! It was a long trip! It took us 2 1/2 hours each way but it was beautiful drive. When we finally got to Forks we saw this sign and we saw a man and a woman taking pictures with it. We stopped and they were nice enough to take our picture with the sign. Then, a car full of girls pulled up and we took their picture. We thought that it was going to be really lame because it's a tiny town (there are less than 2,000 people in this town) but they were really working Twilight! We loved it.

This sign also greeted us when we started into Forks. I don't know if you can read it, it says "Edward Cullen didn't sleep here." We thought it was cute.
Here is Elizabeth with Bella's truck. It's sitting in front of the Chamber of Commerce. They said that someone in town owns the truck and they let them park it there. I like the fake licence plate that says Bella.

At the Chamber of Commerce they told us that if you go around behind the "hospital" they have a parking space reserved for Dr. Cullen. So we were able to park in Dr. Cullen's parking space. I hope there wasn't an emergency while we were parked there.
This is my favorite picture! Can anyone guess who this is? It's Chief Swan! Okay, it's really not Charlie but it is the Police Chief. We were in this store and they said "Go over to the police station and ring the bell and tell them that you are Twilighters and that you want to see the Chief. " They said he would come out and you can meet him and he will give you key chains and pens, well, they were right! We did it and he was awesome!
I felt like I was in high school again because this is totally the thing me and my crazy friends would have done. It's good that I have Elizabeth to do this kind of thing with.
Anyway, Elizabeth and I stood outside the door to the police station for about 5 mins. thinking about how dumb we were being and how we didn't want to ring that bell. I'm glad we did.
According to the Chamber of Commerce all of the policemen in town will answer to Charlie.
Well, I had a great time and I hope this post isn't too long.

Cousins and the Park

So, my cousin Jason and his wife Amanda came to visit last Saturday. I haven't seen them in quite some time and Jordan had never met Jason (although he had met Amanda). They both attended school at BYU-Idaho and really wanted to see the changes and the Temple. They have been living in Boise for a few years and recently got a promotion and have to move to Ohio. They brought their son with them. His name is Grant and is really cute. He and Shelby had a lot of fun playing while his parents went to the Temple. We liked having a friend for Shelby. Too bad they are moving so far away!

A few days ago Shelby and I were going to meet our friends at the park. Something happened and they were not able to make it. Shelby and I played for about an hour, it was an unusually warm day and Shelby's cheeks were getting really red so we left to get some juice. Before we left though, I got some good pictures of her. She really loved the slide and I was told that when she was at the toddler lab on Friday that she would go up and slide down over and over again. I guess we need to go to the park more often.

New Job!

So, Jordan and I have been looking for a house. We like houses that are WAY too expensive than we can afford (of course). We found out how much we can afford today and I was feeling pretty bad about it and then about an hour later I get a call from the Sugar-Salem school district offering me a job that I had interviewed for earlier this week. I really didn't think much of it when I interviewed for it because I had applied about 9 months ago and then forgotten anything about it. Anyway, I'm going to be working at Central Elementary School from 7:55am- 12 noon. I start right after Harvest Break and after I come home from Washington. I'm pretty excited about it! Here's a picture of the school but it doesn't look this bad in real life.

Flour Mishaps and the Zoo

Today Shelby got into the flour. Jordan's grandmother and I were downstairs discussing sewing machines and Shelby got away and went upstairs. She opened the flour drawer and tried to drink out of the flour sifter. I think she looks pretty awesome and I think she was pretty proud of herself.

Another exciting thing that happened today was that Jordan got a promotion! He is now the Parts Manager at Rexburg Motor sports! He has been working there for about 2 1/2 years and we couldn't be happier! We get to start looking at houses for real now!

Jordan and Shelby are in the petting zoo portion of the Idaho Falls zoo. This goat came up and put his foot on Jordan's leg. It was pretty cute! Here is my little baby bird. Shelby climbed into this nest. She loves the Zoo!

Mustang Show

This weekend we went to Park City for a family reunion and for the Mustang Show. Jordan, his brothers and his dad all read Mustang Monthly and they had a show in Park City so we decided to make a family reunion out of it.
No one brought their Mustangs but we still had fun! Next year we will be more fun because hopefully we will have all the mustangs there.
This slide show is from the show.Hail the conquering heroes! They just finished riding the Alpine Coaster. They had a lot of fun!

Here we are riding the chair lift up to the Alpine Slide. I thought Jordan was going to ride the Alpine coaster and the Alpine Slide but to be nice to me he decided to just ride the coaster so I wouldn't be bored. While he was on the coaster I decided I would ride the slide with him. So, it turned out we didn't ride anything together. Oh well, it was still fun!

Monkeys jumping on the bed!
Zoie and Shelby were jumping on the bed while I was singing "two little monkeys jumping on the bed
one fell off and bumped her head. . ."
Right after I sang that part Shelby fell off and bumped her head.
I think if she were a little bit older she would have made me call the doctor.
So needless to say, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

4th of July

I know I've been really bad lately about blogging. Now, I need to catch up! Our 4th of July was pretty mild. We went to the parade here in town, tried to enter Shelby in a cutest baby contest (she would totally win) and we had a bbq with some of our friends. I took a few pictures to document the day.
Shelby sat on the potty for a little bit. That's pretty much all she does, but it's a start!

Then, Jordan helped me make a fruit bowl out of a watermelon. When I say helped I mean he did it all! He's such a perfectionist that it turned out great!

Then Shelby ate everything she could find and a lot ended up on her face. Oh well, it makes for a cute picture.

Cousins

Shelby's cousin, Zoie has come up for the week. We've been having a lot of fun! First we went to Logan to visit Aunt Hilary. Hilary and I went down the stairs and we saw Grandma and her two cute granddaughters. We just had to get our cameras and take their pictures.

Then we had dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Frisby's house on Sunday. Shelby and Zoie had a little "water" party before. I think Shelby frustrated Zoie because all she wanted to do was fish out the ice cubes from the pitcher. Oh well, that's what's on your mind when your only 1 1/2.

The girls also had fun playing in the toy car on the deck. Shelby didn't like being in the car with someone else. She is starting to throw more fits. As you can see, there was one at dinner too.

Then today we went to the splash park and the kids went on the carousel and played in the water. Shelby actually played in the water this time!
